First Day of school!

A new school year…
School started today and the girls LOVED it. Their teachers are great and I am so excited!

Hannah has Mrs. Gaskin, a wonderful lady with a fun classroom.

Taylor has, Mrs. Box, she was our first pick and the best 1st grade teacher around. So happy!

Both girls have friends in their class so it will make things fun.

I am so glad they are going back to school, not because they will be ou tof the house, but because they both LOVE school, they are social butterflies and of course love being places and doing things.

First time for everything…

Today I ran my scheduled 10 mile run. I left the house at 6:13 AM. It took me 2 hours and 3 minutes. I had a few water stops… but it was 87 degrees and 87-90% humidity. It was HOT and horrible but I am glad my time was not affected too much with my stops and the weather.

Before I opened the front door to leave I knew it would be a tough and long run…my water pack was leaking. Before I got to the 3 mile mark my shorts and socks were soaked. I hit 7 miles and was out of water. The sun was beating down on me and I was parched. Luckily I have back up and I called my cheer team and they brought me 2 bottles of water and cheered me on. I poured most of the first bottle on me and finished my run with the other one.

I have always avoided running in the heat and definitely try to avoid the horrible humid days but I don’t have leeway with my schedule so I suffered through today. I know it will pay off for me though…running in such conditions helps strengthen your lungs and tells your body you can do anything. I am counting on several more long runs in such conditions…not that I want them or am excited about it but I can’t change the weather.

Tired, sore and never full

It is still new territory for me to be weight training, and marathon training while working on my diet, finding the perfect amount of calories for my body, the right foods at the right times after a workout etc.

I am back to journaling what I eat. I feel I eat all the time and I am never full, but I am not sure if I am eating the right amount of calories.

My trainer is still brutal. I love that but this last week I have been so sore and tight. I am glad she is tough. I can see the results of all the workouts. I love my legs and the curvy definition they have, my arms are tighter and toned. My abs are hard but still cannot see them- that is the only thing I hate. I know it will take a lot of time to burn the precious baby fat my kids gave me so I am hanging on to hope. My goal is to loose it in a healthy non surgical way.

Marathon training is going great. I can totally feel the benefits to working out with my trainer in the gym. My legs are stronger and I love it. I just wish the weather would go ahead and cool down since my lungs are suffering in this hot and humid weather.

I am all set for the San Antonio 1/2 Marathon…booked the hotel and paid the fee. The girls are excited I am doing another race and so am I. Now I am waiting for the Austin Marathon registration to open next month.

I have a 10 mile run tomorrow, hope it goes well. Due to weather last weekend I had to run on a treadmill. I could only stand to do 8.2 miles…. I so hate treadmills. I did find out though that after 60 minutes the treadmill forces you to cool down and stop. I almost fell off the thing since I did not know this and it quickly went from my speed to a walking speed. Anyway I had to make it stop, wait a few seconds and then restart it…that was quite the interruption to my running.

Happy running or tennis, or walking or golfing, or channel surfing…whatever it is you do.

She\’s a big girl!

See how big she looks now! Taylor wanted short hair and she so today was the big haircut day. I thought I was gonna be fine with it, I mean she is 6 now, I have short hair and I knew that with her fine hair the long look was not working…way too many tangles and just messy looking at the end of the day. But as I watched Blanca cut her hair I got real teary eyes watching her do such a grown up thing.

She just loves her new hair do and is happy she has short hair like cousin Caley. I do like it and think it is so cute, it is just difficult letting them grow up.

Hannah wants short hair now but it is just not gonna happen…her hair is so full and thick and I love it too much to cut it.

Bon Voyage!

It is scheduled, ticket is paid for and kids are going to mimi & papa\’s!

We are going to Paris in October for a week. We will be there over our 9 year anniversary. Last time we were there we had to cancel our prized reservation at LE JULES VERNE. The restaurant on the second floor of the tower. I had clothing malfunctions I could not get over. So we tried to get in this go round but they will be closed until December 1 for renovations. Oh well, at least we\’ll be together and in Paris, one of our favorite places!

I just LOVE our pediatrician

Our doctor is GREAT!! I wish he was my doctor. He is so funny and you can tell he absolutely LOVES kids. They kids have so much fun when they go. We had to go yesterday for Taylor’s and Joshua’s check ups. All went well….but Taylor had to go back to the lab to day for a retest. UGH!

UGH! Because we take a bit of a drive to get to our wonderful doc. He is about 30 minutes from us on a good traffic day. But we would drive any distance to see him. Anyway, Taylor did the test again and we decided to wait for results instead of leaving a getting a call. So our wonderful doctor came to talk to us without delay about her results. She needed medicine so I thought I was going to wait for the drug slip. But no we came with a handful of samples. YAY! This means no pharmacy visit and no cost to us I have rarely had to pay for any medicine my kids have needed (unless we are forced to go to Urgent Care). I just love that. He takes such good care of the kids plus makes it so easy on me with no costs and no trips and waiting at the pharmacy.

He is a GREAT doctor!!!

So much fun!

Just another pic to show how much fun it really was. I love the fact that we have friends who love to be as crazy, silly and fun as we like to be. None of us can do things the way others do or else this would be a pic of someone shooting a ball into the plain ole basketball hoop. BORING!

Back to life…back to reality…

Vacation is over.

It was FABULOUS! We had such a great time. It was awesome to have a week with great friends and nothing to do except put on sunscreen, change bathing suits and sleep. We hate the fact that we are back. I have not fully adjusted to real life again. It did hit me hard this morning when I met with my trainer. I am worn out and plan to go lay at the pool soon, trying to deny the fact we are home.

We enjoyed laying in the sand on the beach and playing in the pool. The girls boogie boarded and rode jet skis with Uncle Tony. Joshua loved the sand but not the ocean. I loved the company and the all time best babysitter. Coleman came in handy and was great.

Well the picture of Hannah shows how much fun we all had.
